Davis at 3 Months

January 20, 2015 by Sarah

Oh my, time is flying by so quickly that I can’t hardly believe it.  It seems like I blink and another month goes by.  I can hardly remember us not having you with us, but yet 3 months has gone by so fast.
Here is what you are up to these days.

* You are eating 6 times a day.  Nursing is going well and you are getting pretty fast, sometimes taking as little as 20 minutes to fill your belly.  You typically eat every 3 hours during the day.

* You are finally sleeping through the night.  You had been teetering for a couple of weeks, but you are finally consistent. Your last feeding is typically around 11pm and then you sleep until around 7:30am.  I’m so thankful for uninterrupted sleep!

* You are doing well with your naps {and taking 4 naps a day} and will normally go down with little or no crying.  You are typically up for about 1-1.5 hours before going back down.  Fortunately, you will nap on the go if we are running errands or taking Savannah to or from preschool.  You are still using the Swaddle Me and the pacifier when you need it.

* You are wearing size 2 diapers, but could probably use size 3 at this point.  We are using up what we have, but you tend to blow through the size 2 diapers more often than not.

* You are still wearing 3-6 months clothes, but they aren’t nearly as roomy as they used to be.  You definitely seem like a long baby!

* You are doing fine with tummy time, but prefer it in moderation.  You turned over from your tummy to your back a couple of weeks ago.  I was able to get it on camera during tummy time one evening.

* You are starting to smile more, which melts my heart so much.  I’m pretty sure I even heard you giggle recently too.  Oh, and bubbles…can’t forget those.

* You are starting to suck your thumb.  Now that I only swaddle one of your arms, you typically like to suck on the thumb of your free hand when you are sleeping.  I’ve even seen you do it when you are in your carrier and are tired and fussy.  I’m happy you can self-soothe.

* You are still sleeping in our room in the pack n’ play.  I’m not in a huge rush to move you because it’s just easier to have you in with us until you are sleeping 12 hours straight.  I’d planned on putting you in with your sister since she is a heavier sleeper, but I’m not so sure now.  I’m starting to think about moving Brady in with Savannah so that you can have your own space while you take so many naps.  We will see.

*  You have officially had your first “sickness.”  You had a cough/congestion combo after Christmas that ended up in your first ear infection.  I wouldn’t have known had I not taken you in when I thought I heard you wheezing.  Turns out your lungs sounded great, but one of your ears was infected.  You were as happy as could be, despite it.  After your ear cleared up, what started out as nasty cradle cap turned into impetigo.  Thankfully, another antibiotic cleared it up!

Despite some of the “sickness,” you are doing so well!  Your smile lights up the room and melts me into a puddle.  I can’t wait to see how your little personality starts to shine through as your smiles and giggles become more and more frequent.  You fit right in with our family and have been such a sweet addition.

I love you to the moon, Davis!

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪
.
Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.
.
Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
