March Goals

March 4, 2016 by Sarah

I don’t know what the weather is like where you are, but I feel like spring is in the air!!  I’m so ready for it and really look forward to more time outside.  I wish I had gotten more indoor projects done this winter, but it’s okay because I’m so excited for outdoor projects.

Before I dive into March, here’s how I did for February.  One of these days I WILL get everything crossed off my list.  🙂

1.  Have a date night with The Teacher
We enjoyed a nice meal out together over Valentine’s Day weekend.  We had hoped to eat at Cheesecake Factory, but the line was insane so we opted for California Pizza Kitchen instead.  It was nice to eat together and not have to worry about cutting up someone else’s food.

2.  Have a date with Savannah
She and I had a little outing together and it was so nice.  We shared a bagel and a cookie at Panera Bread and then did some shopping together.  I love being a girl mom and love spending one-on-one time with her.

3.  Read Money Making Mom* by Crystal Paine
I did read a little in this book, but still have a ways to go on it.  I’m really enjoying it so far, but my reading time has mostly been spent on our book for small group (God Came Near*) and a book I’m reading with a friend (The Best Yes*).

4.  Implement cleaning routine for at least 1 week
I’ve been working on this, but can’t really mark it off completely.  I’m usually okay on Mondays (where my chore is washing sheets), but I struggle later in the week since our schedule is usually busier.  This probably won’t be on my goals list anymore but I’m still going to work on this because I think it will be helpful.

5.  Research soccer for Brady (and maybe Savannah)
This little guy is signed up for Soccer Shots.  He will start in the middle of the month and I’m really excited to see how he likes it!  Savannah is taking ballet, so we will skip soccer for her right now.

6.  Finish DIY necklace board
I had this one scheduled on my calendar, but The Teacher was called up for National Guard duty after some storms in our area which changed my weekends plans.  I don’t even attempt projects like that unless he is around to watch the kids while I work.

7.  Research WordPress migration options
I did spend some time reaching out to another company regarding this, but I’m not quite ready to pull the plug.  I want to email them some other questions that I have, but I will likely use them to help with the migration.

8.  Schedule remaining doctor appointments (dentist) for the kids
Brady had his first cleaning at the dentist and he did great!  He was so excited to pick out his toy and get his new toothbrush.  Now we just need to start working on flossing.  🙁

Here is my plan for March goals.

1.  Have a date night with The Teacher
We’ll probably pick a night for an at-home date night this month.  I’m starting to really enjoy at-home dates.  They are cheaper and we often catch up on movies we haven’t seen.

2.  Find a family doctor and schedule a physical
I’ve been to my OBGYN so much over the past few years, that I tend to think she is my primary care doctor – ha!  It’s time to change that and get a yearly physical with some blood work.  This gal isn’t as young as she used to be.

3.  Finish reading Money Making Mom* by Crystal Paine
I’m enjoying it so far!

4.  Finish DIY necklace board
I’m so close to having this finished.  I need to paint the moulding, attach the knobs, and then mount it on the wall.  I can’t wait to see the finished result.

5.  Purge and sell kid’s clothes
I’m in purging mode and as soon as the kids outgrow something, I’m ready to GET IT OUT.  I may have to get creative though because I missed the deadline for my favorite consignment sale and will be out of town when the others are happening.

6.  Start shopping for spring/summer clothes for the kids
I always start my shopping for the kid’s spring and summer wardrobe at consignment sales and most of them are happening this month, so I’ll be out and about seeing what deals I can find on used clothes.  Thankfully, we have lots of hand-me-downs for the boys and I snagged some items brand new last year at the end of the season.

7.  Start switching out clothes
This is the time of the year when I feel like I have clothes out everywhere.  It’s hard because I feel like I am constantly pulling out warmer weather clothes and putting away cold weather ones.  It tends to be a month-long process as the weather slowly changes.

8.  Finish up taxes
I started working on these back in January, but haven’t looked at them since then.  It’s time to get them done!

There you have it.  I’ll report back and let you know how I did!

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.

Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!

Can they be helpful? Absolutely!

This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
