Hey friends! It’s Saturday so that means it’s another week of Ways We Save Saturday – where I share all the small and simple ways we save money throughout the week. Here goes!

1. Participated in a local consignment sale
This week is the start of one of my favorite local consignment sales. I’ve been selling for a few years now and usually have great luck off loading my items and earning some money! I didn’t have a ton of items this year, but I’m already pleased with my earnings. I won’t know the grand total until Sunday, but I typically use the money I earn to pay for the kids’ spring clothes.
Participating in the sale is more of a way to earn, but I did save some money when I was getting my items ready. I have a ton of hangers that I got for free from retails stores and decided to print my own tags at home since I didn’t have as many items this year. I’ve written about ways to save time and money when consigning, so feel free to check out more of the ways I save in that post.

2. Shopped at a consignment sale
Once I was done prepping my own items to sell, I had to make sure to stop in and see what they had for purchase! If you follow me on Instagram Stories, you saw me share that a lot of people over price their items (to each their own)! Despite that, I found 3 church dresses for my daughter for an average of $7 a piece. I was pleased with those prices and the brands I found. Even with shopping sales on brand new clothes, it’s hard to find church dresses for less than $10 a piece.

3. Bought some meat on sale at Aldi
I found some good prices on meat at Aldi this week. I got some ground beef (for an extra $2 off) and chicken breasts for some great prices, so made sure to snag some for the freezer. I didn’t need the meat for meals this week, but I made sure to grab it while I could so I can use it later! I had the money left in the grocery budget for the month, so decided to take advantage.
4. Avoided convenience foods
One of the items I did buy this week was mushrooms. I don’t care for mushrooms ordinarily, but I have no problem eating them in my Slow-Cooker Creamy Tortellini Soup. It’s a big hit in our house and I can stomach mushrooms when they are in that soup.
I was tempted to buy them already sliced, but decided to save 20 cents and slice them myself! I know, I know – it’s only 20 cents! But savings is savings, right? 🙂
5. Painted my nails at home
I’ve been trying to keep my nails painted these days so that I can let them grow out and stop biting them. (Yes, I go through phases where I will bite my nails!!) My nails were looking rough, so I decided to pamper myself and give them a nice new coat of nail polish. I’m in love with Essie Chinchilly!
I have nothing against paying for a manicure, but I tend to forget how much money I save when I paint them myself at home. I may have to splurge at my birthday and get a pedicure since spring is on the way! 🙂
5. Tried store brand allergy medicine
After a visit with my new family doctor this week (I hadn’t seen one in over 7 years!), I decided to take her advice and try some Flonase for this allergy season. When I went to pick up the medicine, I noticed they had a store brand equivalent. After looking at the packages and confirming they have the exact same active ingredients, I opted for the store brand!
Even with using a $6 ibotta rebate on the Flonase brand, I still saved money by purchasing the Wal-Mart store brand instead. I just started it today, so I’ll have to wait and see how it works out. Getting older is no fun. I never had seasonal allergies when I was in my 20’s!
