This past weekend, we headed up to Baltimore to attend my youngest cousin’s high school graduation. I had planned to drive up on Friday morning, but heard it was supposed to rain a ton and made the last minute decision to drive up on Thursday evening instead. It was a little stressful getting us packed up and out the door 12 hours sooner than originally planned, but it made for a nice and relaxing Friday!
The weekend itself was pretty low key. The cousins enjoyed playing together and I enjoyed some cable (meaning the Hallmark channel) and some good time with my family. If anyone who knows me wonders where I get my night owl tendencies and my love for Hallmark movies, it’s totally from my mom. We were up until about 1:30am on Thursday night and stayed up watching Hallmark movies!
I went to my old church up in Baltimore on Sunday morning, which was nice. Kev stayed home with Brady and I took Savannah with me so she could get out of the house and play with some of the kids in the nursery. My dad was leading a class during Sunday School so I went ahead and joined their class. From what I understand, they are reading through the book The Resolution for Men (which I believe goes along with the movie Courageous), so the discussion resolved around parenthood, which I enjoyed a lot. I need all the help I can get! I’m curious if they will tackle The Resolution for Women next!
That afternoon, we were off to the graduation! It was held outside and it couldn’t have been a nicer day! Other than a somewhat long winded commencement speaker, it was a nice ceremony.
My cousin graduated from Gilman School and they didn’t march in to the normal Pomp and Circumstance, nor did they wear cap and gowns. Nope, not that preppy private all boys school! They walked in wearing white pants, blue shirts, blue ties, and navy blue blazers to the tune of some pretty awesome bagpipes! Not a bad way to do it and they sure looked handsome! Man, I feel old again!
After the ceremony was over, we gathered for a few minutes to give out more hugs and get a quick cousin picture! I swear, I’m the only one in my family who takes any pictures!
Kevin stayed at home with all the kids. There is no way I could have enjoyed the afternoon with the kids getting restless and noisy! We stayed up a few days after the graduation, but Kevin had to head back home on Sunday evening, so he was basically on kid duty the majority of the time he was there…he’s such a trooper!
