Our Anniversary Date

July 24, 2013 by Sarah

It’s still hard to believe that Kev and I have been married for 10 years!  Back when we were newlyweds, we had all sorts of plans on how we’d celebrate our 10 year anniversary when it finally rolled around.  But, real life happens and things don’t always turn out the way we’d like.  For some reason, we thought we’d be less broke now than we were then – ha! 🙂  Maybe we’ll make it to Hawaii for our 15 year anniversary?

We opted to celebrate our big milestone by enjoying a date night!  Kev had asked some friends of ours if they could watch our kids for us and they so kindly agreed!  So, off we went to enjoy some time to ourselves, but not before we got some goofy pictures with the kids!

We started out with dinner at Logan’s Steakhouse.  We had a gift card, but the nearest one was on the other side of town about 30 minutes away.  The drive down gave us some good time to talk, so it really wasn’t bad to have to make the drive.  We enjoyed our meals so much and took our time, not worrying about who was or wasn’t getting restless.

The night was still young, so we decided to try a dessert joint called Shyndigz back on our side of town.  They are only open on the weekend and the desserts are to die for (I had a chance to sample a piece of cake when a friend bought a slice for me), but I had yet to go there in person.  So, we ventured on in and enjoyed some yummy peanut butter pie!

Kev and I both ordered the same thing because we both had a feeling we would not be willing to share with each other.  Had I known the slice of pie would be double what I expected, I would have been more than willing to share!

After dessert, we drove around town a bit because we weren’t quite ready to head home but it was really too late to go somewhere else.  We just enjoyed riding around together and talking.    It’s funny how special a simple night out can be these days.  When intentional conversation and relaxed meals together are the exception rather than the rule, it makes them so meaningful and special.  We may not have made it to Hawaii for this anniversary, but our night was close enough to paradise for me!
